East of Eden

Jonathan and Jan began farming full time in 2011, focusing on pastured Heritage chicken and turkey. These are just the first steps, and they hope to integrate other animals. Jonathan is a native of Huntersville, NC and grew up on the land they currently farm. It's been a long journey to leading them back to farming! For both, time spent at Montreat College and Regent College played major roles in forming their concepts of food and ethical eating.

Jonathan's dad, Doug, and granddad, Harley, both raised Beef cattle and did a variety of gardening. So this land has a strong heritage of being maintained and farmed over several generations. If you are to visit, you may be surprised the farm is not quite in the country, as the city and suburbs have grown up around it.

East of Eden is proud to be a place that has maintained farming and land stewardship for many generations and delights in continuing this legacy.
